Sessions during your course

Throughout your course at the University of Bedfordshire, our Learning Development and Library teams play a vital role in supporting your academic success. Working in close collaboration with academic staff, these teams provide embedded teaching sessions designed to help you develop the essential skills needed to thrive at university and beyond.
The Academy's Learning Development team delivers targeted academic skills initiatives to support student continuation and success. This includes tailored academic skills workshops, drop-in sessions, and bespoke learning materials designed to meet the specific needs of your course.
Learning Development sessions typically focus on developing core academic skills such as critical thinking, academic writing, mathematics and statistics, and oral presentations. These sessions are fully integrated into your course and are designed to be relevant and practical, helping you to apply what you learn directly to your assignments and exams.
Library staff also contribute to your academic development through course-specific sessions on referencing, research, and information literacy. These include workshops and online tutorials that teach you how to locate, evaluate, and use academic resources effectively. You’ll gain hands-on experience with academic databases and research tools, supporting your ability to produce high-quality, evidence-based work.
In addition to timetabled sessions, both teams offer one-to-one appointments, drop-in support, and a range of online resources through BREO and the Study Hub, enabling you to build your skills at your own pace.
Whether you are studying full-time, part-time, or through a blended model, our teaching approach is built to help you succeed, develop your skills, and prepare you for your future career.
